Comments about “taking money for nothing” usually come from people who don’t see what it really takes to ensure fair and safe employment abroad.

The Netherlands offers a stable job market, fair working conditions, and modern projects. Wages are transparent and reflect real skills and experience. What truly makes a difference is the professional and respectful attitude of Dutch team leaders, who approach people fairly and with a human touch — …something everyone who has worked in the Netherlands knows very well — they’ve definitely felt it themselves.

Work and Job Offers

What kind of projects does Fareon provide?

Fareon specializes in technical professions — mainly in electrical installations, metalwork, assembly, shipbuilding, technical construction, and industrial installations.  Our strength lies in a narrow specialization and long-term trust from renowned clients in the Netherlands, for whom we provide qualified workers for stable, well-organized projects.

The standard rotations are 5/1 or 8/2 weeks – meaning five or eight weeks of work followed by one or two weeks off. For long-term projects, it is possible to arrange an individual schedule, depending on the situation. The rotation you choose must align with our accommodation logistics and the client’s requirements – after all, the workplace can’t be chaotic. For shutdowns and short-term projects, it is mandatory to stay from the beginning until the end of the project, as the client relies on the full team being present throughout the entire duration.

The standard working week for employees in the Netherlands is 40 hours, and your base salary is set accordingly.
Overtime cannot be guaranteed in advance. Overtime is always decided by the client, based on the needs of the project and after they get to know your skills – it cannot be demanded. However, from our experience, most projects offer the possibility to work overtime, always in accordance with Dutch regulations and with extra pay according to the CAO collective agreement.Self-employed workers (ZZP) have an agreed “all-in” hourly rate, as they invoice partial work on the project according to the contract terms. They do not have the same conditions as employees and therefore cannot expect the same benefits or bonuses.

Yes, English is very important. In the Netherlands, you can communicate almost everywhere in English, especially at work. However, if you don’t speak work-related English independently and cannot communicate with a Dutch team leader, you take the risk of becoming dependent on colleagues or losing the opportunity for professional growth.Yes, there may be people in your team who speak your native language, but clients assess and choose each worker individually. That’s why speaking English is always an advantage – and often a requirement.

In that case, your flexibility is limited – you will rely on colleagues who can help you translate at work and assist with transport to the job site.  This reduces the number of available projects, but you still have a chance to succeed – if you are responsible, willing, and reliable, we can find a suitable position for you in a team with a more experienced colleague.

Yes.  Skilled, independent, and reliable workers can advance to lead or team coordinator positions.
Career growth depends on the client’s evaluation and trust in your work, which we at Fareon can recognize and support in your professional development.

After the client confirms your experience and quality of work.
Standard is for employees working under a Dutch employment contract, salary adjustments are determined by the CAO collective agreement. Self-employed workers (ZZP) can request a rate review once per year, or in exceptional cases, when there is strong positive feedback from the client.

We can also offer helper positions, but they are not available every day, as we prioritize workers with experience, English skills, and the ability to work independently. For helper roles, we focus mainly on your willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues and your understanding that good behavior and respect are the key to success for newcomers.

Types of Cooperation, salaries , payments

What type of contract will I sign?

Employees sign a Dutch employment contract (Uitzendovereenkomst).
Self-employed workers (ZZP) sign a cooperation agreement with Fareon and a “Beschrijving van de opdracht” (Description of the Assignment). All contracts are signed and sent digitally – they are legally valid and fully recognized under Dutch law.

Yes. If you work under a Dutch employment contract, all social contributions, health insurance, and pension payments are automatically covered according to Dutch legislation and the CAO collective agreement. If you work as a self-employed person (ZZP), you are responsible for arranging your own insurance, pension, and contributions either in your home country or in the Netherlands, depending on where you are tax-registered.

Single-person limited companies  do not meet the legal requirements in the Netherlands to participate in projects. Companies that wish to operate as Fareon subcontractors are also subject to Dutch legal, tax, and certification regulations.Without meeting these requirements, we cannot cooperate with you.

Not on every project. The client decides whether they are willing to accept a worker as self-employed (ZZP) or not. Each self-employed worker must verify their independence, which includes having:

  • their own car
  • tools and work clothing,
  • sufficient English skills
  • independently determines and manages the time required to complete the order
  • complete and valid documentation
  • and a valid VCA VOL or SCC017 certificate.

Your Fareon contact person will explain all details to you.

Yes. Every foreign self-employed person must be registered and visible in the central European VIES database:
https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation

It always depends on the specific project, the nature of the work, and your professional skills.
We have defined three skill levels, and each level has clearly set conditions and pay rates.Your recruiter will explain all details and rates based on your experience and the project you are being considered for.

Employees with a Dutch employment contract receive their salary every week.
For self-employed workers (ZZP), invoicing takes place every week, and the payment term is 16 days.

Your guarantee is Fareon itself and our SNA certification, which confirms that we meet all Dutch standards for fair and transparent employment. As long as you fulfil your contractual obligations and follow our company rules, you have no reason to worry about receiving your payments. If, however, you cause damage (for example at the workplace or accommodation) or breach the contract, Fareon has the legal right to withhold or deduct the amount necessary to cover the damage, in line with our rules and contractual agreements. We have never owed anything to anyone.

We use a self-billing system – this means we issue invoices on your behalf. You will receive the completed invoice in your digital mailbox or by email. Each invoice meets all the requirements of Dutch legislation and can be used as a basis for your own accounting (if you have your own invoice numbering) or directly as your official invoice. It is legally valid in all EU member states.

We can help arrange any certificate required for your job. For employees, the certification costs are covered by Fareon, under clearly defined conditions.Self-employed workers (ZZP) handle and pay for their own certifications as part of maintaining their professional qualifications.

VCA and SCC are certificates that confirm you have completed workplace safety training. Employees working under a contract need either VCA Basis or SCC018. Self-employed workers (ZZP) must have VCA VOL or SCC017.Before you start, we will advise you on how to obtain the certificate or help you arrange it directly in the Netherlands.

This service is not provided directly by Fareon, but we can recommend reliable accountants in the Netherlands who specialize in handling child benefit applications and related tax matters.

After a longer period of cooperation, this is possible, but always after mutual communication with Fareon and in accordance with the agreed contractual terms.

Accommodation, Transport, and Equipment

How is accommodation arranged?

Accommodation is provided for employees in houses, apartments, or guesthouses certified by SNF.
Each employee has free accommodation a private room and access to shared areas – kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and living room. All accommodations are fully equipped. For hygiene reasons, new workers are required to bring their own bedding and a sheet for the mattress.Self-employed workers (ZZP) who cannot find their own accommodation may, if capacity allows, use Fareon housing – in such cases, we prepare a rental agreement, and the rent is deducted from the invoice.

Yes, you can arrange your own accommodation – we have no problem with that.
However, it’s important to note that by choosing your own accommodation, you also determine your commuting distance, and therefore we are not obliged to reimburse more kilometers than if you had stayed in our provided housing.

It’s possible, but only if you arrange your own accommodation. Fareon does not provide housing for partners or families. Our recommendation is to first settle in and build your own base in the Netherlands before relocating your family.
Finding suitable housing in the Netherlands is not easy – the process can take several weeks or even months, and it’s better to avoid unnecessary stress and risk for your loved ones.

In exceptional cases, we can provide a company car – always for at least two people and for a service fee. Another option is that we assign you to a colleague who already has a car, but in that case, you become dependent on others and may face uncomfortable situations – for example:  not being able to go shopping when you need to,
having no transport when your colleague is on vacation,  or being unable to reach a doctor if you get sick. It’s always better to have your own car and be independent. Please note that the journey to work from your home country to the Netherlands is not reimbursed by Fareon.

Yes. We provide work clothing and cordless (battery-powered) tools, for which you are responsible for returning at the end of your employment. If you want to act professionally, it’s expected that you have your own basic hand tools necessary for your trade. We reimburse safety shoes (S1 or S3), but we do not supply them directly, as shoe size and fit may vary.
Reimbursement is provided once per year up to €100, or twice per year up to €50 each time.

Please purchase them before starting work and keep the receipt for reimbursement.Self-employed workers (ZZP) do not receive these benefits – they are fully equipped with their own tools and work clothing.
